Hello and welcome to my website
My name is Roger Manley and I was born on 25th January 1947. I have lived in Surrey since 1988 and spent 33 years with the railways before accepting voluntary redundancy in 1997 upon privatisation and now work part time locally.
On this website, you will find a variety of images covering my many hobbies tramways and steam trains. I hope you will enjoy looking around the site and I will be adding new images at frequent intervals.
Thank you everyone who’s stopped by to enjoy my passion in photography with the images that I have personally selected to share with you.
I have been taking photographs and cine/video film since the 1960s and have amassed a great collection of material, mainly of steam trains, trolleybuses and trams.
My enthusiasm for these forms of transport starting in the early 1950s when my father, every Sunday morning, took me to Westminster to travel on a tram through the Kingsway Subway which linked Bloomsbury with the Victoria Embankment – part of it is now the Strand Underpass.
I have visited many parts of the world including the United States, Canada, all over Europe, Japan, China, Australia and Scandinavia in my quest.
I have been a member of the local hospital radio station since early 1972 and have held the posts of OB Co-ordinator and Chairman as well as being on the committee of the national association for 16 years first as editor of its magazine ‘On Air’ and then as General Secretary.
All the best
